Manuscripts are being solicited for The Journal of the Civil War Era. All material should be double spaced and not exceed 10,000 to 11,000 words, including notes.

Electronic submissions are welcome, but please include an attachment that serves as a cover letter with contact information.

Matt Isham is managing director of the George and Ann Richards Civil War Era Center at Pennsylvania State University and managing editor of The Journal of the Civil War Era. His essay, “‘A Press that Speaks its Opinions Frankly and Openly and Fearlessly’: the Contentious Relationship between the Democratic Press and the Party in the Antebellum North” will appear  in New Perspectives on the Civil War Era North: Essays in Honor of Mark Neely, edited by Andrew Slap and Michael Smith and forthcoming from Fordham University Press, in 2012.
